Syntronic USA expanding Silicon Valley team

Global technology firm Syntronic is expanding in the American market. The company is reinforcing its Santa Clara team in Silicon Valley. The reason behind the decision is the American customers’ increasing demand for the cutting-edge technology solutions that the global firm offers.

With a worldwide presence in eight countries on three continents, Syntronic is well-established in the global technology industry. The company’s Santa Clara office was started two years ago. “It was a major milestone for us to establish ourselves in an area where technology history is written every day. Silicon Valley is one of the world’s most technically intense areas and it continues to attract the brightest minds in the industry. That is why we now choose to reinforce our presence here even further, ” says Björn Östlund, president of Syntronic USA.

The global firm’s main focus in Santa Clara is research and development conducted at the front line of the latest technological discoveries. Syntronic’s America-based team develops leading-edge solutions to assist its American business partners in a wide range of sectors, including telecom, medtech, consumer, industrial, and automotive.

Hari Shukla, Sr. Director of Engineering and Senior RF system designer at Syntronic USA, believes that the personalized, customer-centred collaborations that the company offers is one of its success factors in Silicon Valley. Moreover, the team takes pride in having high standards. “One of the reasons I decided to join Syntronic is its excellent reputation in the industry and its exceptionally high standards. Moreover, Syntronic collaborates with world-leading customers, which allows us to experience many different kinds of assignments and develop professionally,” he says.

Another success factor is Syntronic USA’s close collaboration with the firm’s state-of-the-art design center in Canada as well as with its other global branches. The offer means that the research and development segment can be combined with manufacturing, aftermarket, and new product introduction services in an efficient and cost-effective way. Syntronic is a one-stop shop for business partners who are interested in creative solutions related to design, prototyping, verification, maintenance, and volume production. “Our colleagues in Canada and beyond put us in the perfect position to partner with our American clients throughout the entire life cycle of a solution or products,” Björn Östlund comments.

The Santa Clara team looks forward to Syntronic USA’s expansion within its areas of expertise which includes hardware, RF and antenna design, embedded/application/cloud software development, data engineering, FPGA, mechanics, simulations, integration, and verification. “Our Santa Clara team is involved in exciting projects that include everything from developing 5G solutions that result in efficient telecom infrastructure systems, to innovative radar system designed to generate hyperlocal, real-time HD road weather information to keep drivers safe, protect cargo, and reduce insurance claims as a result of reducing accidents” says Björn Östlund. “We also play a key role in projects aiming to develop wireless technology-based smart consumer products as well as designing wireless communication systems for train, electric, gas and water utility operations,” he adds.

In addition to reinforcing its team in Santa Clara, Syntronic has launched a major recruitment drive in Canada. The company will open two new offices on the North American continent, in Toronto and Montréal respectively. Syntronic looks forwards to strengthening its presence in the American market.

Syntronic Indonesia ready for global repair volumes from world-leading players

Today, Syntronic Indonesia announced that its request for a Bonded Zone License has been approved by the authorities. The new license means that Syntronic’s repair center in Jakarta, Indonesia, can increase its market reach significantly. Henceforth, Syntronic’s repair center will be able to accept larger repair volumes from its global customers, as a result of the more efficient arrangements and terms of trade that are associated with the new licence.

The development is a major milestone for both Syntronic Indonesia and the company as a whole. “The Bonded Zone License enables us to reinforce our position as an efficient, fast and state-of-the-art repair center hub on both the Asian and the global markets”, says Stefan Sundin, President Director of PT Syntronic Indonesia. “The demand for our cost-effective solutions and high-quality repair and testing services for advanced telecommunication- and electronic products is high. Now, our global customers outside of Indonesia will be able to benefit from them as well”, he adds.

Indonesia’s customs authorities approved Syntronic’s Bonded Zone License on the 1st of December. Customers in Europe, Asia and other locations have already expressed an interest in an increased collaboration with the repair center. The center is able to intensify its operations with immediate effect since it is constructed for handling global repair volumes.

Syntronic’s increased focus on its repair center in Jakarta will create new job opportunities in the region. The company is already well-established in Indonesia, where it currently employs more than 90 people and has developed long-term partnership with local businesses. “The more well-established Syntronic becomes in Indonesia, the more we will be able to help local companies develop their businesses. Our strategy is to provide repair services for high-end electronic and electro-mechanic products on behalf of our customers Moreover, we can provide design service solutions through our offices in Sweden, Canada, and China, to completement our offer”, Stefan Sundin explains.

In Indonesia, as well as in its other strategically located global offices, Syntronic has an ethical approach to its corporate growth journey. “At Syntronic, we always respect the local culture and operate according to the local rules and regulations in an environmentally sustainable manner”, Stefan Sundin comments. “Syntronic is a company that is committed to remain in Indonesia, so that we can contribute to developing the business segment here and create employment opportunities locally while providing our global customers with the best possible service and quality,” he adds.

In all its global locations, Syntronic ’s method is to recruit locally and provide training in-house rather than to employ expatriates. The company has been present in Indonesia since 2010. Its repair center in Jakarta is an essential part of Syntronic Aftermarket Services, which is renowned as a one-stop solution with great performance and flexibility.

The plan is to recruit more people in the Jakarta region in the near future, to expand the Indonesia team. “Indonesia is a growing economy with a great outlook, a cost-effective approach and a constant commitment to development. Those factors, in combination with the excellent availability of well-educated engineers and technicians, makes it a perfect location for Syntronic today and in the future”, Stefan Sundin concludes.

Syntronic opens two new offices in Canada

Syntronic’s expansion in the Canadian market continues. We recently went public with our plans to employ an additional nearly 200 people in the months to come. Today, we want to announce that we are on the verge of opening two new offices in Canada: in Montréal and Toronto.

We are already recruiting for positions at the new locations. The plan is to attract highly skilled and competent ICT professionals who will cater to the needs of Syntronic’s increasingly large pool of North American customers in their respective regions. “By being present at more locations in Canada, we can offer our customers in the regions of Toronto and Montréal all the benefits associated with proximity, while they continue to benefit from our global offer,” says Hans Molin, president of Syntronic Research and Development Canada.

Syntronic has already signed contracts with new and existing business partners, world-leading North American multinational high-technology companies, in the new locations. In the context of new collaborations and partnerships, Syntronic has been entrusted with assignments that involve advanced wireless communication technology.

The majority of our new customers in North America operate within the telecom and automotive sectors. “In the current social and financial climate, we are seeing an increased demand for the advanced telecom solutions that Syntronic offers. At a time when efficient, fast, and reliable communication is crucial, innovative 5G technology stands out as a useful growth strategy for many of our partners,” says Darrell Wellington, vice president of Syntronic Canada.

The decision to expand in Montréal and Toronto is strategic. “Montréal is a vibrant and multicultural city that has some of Canada’s leading academic institutions. Our aspiration is to work in collaboration with the universities and attract promising candidates who would like to join us in developing tomorrow’s technology. Toronto has an excellent business and research climate that makes it a great fit for Syntronic,” Hans Molin comments.

In the first phase of the expansion, Syntronic’s new team members in Montréal and Toronto will work remotely. The plan is for the physical offices to open in the summer months of 2021, when the global pandemic situation is likely to have improved significantly.

Syntronic aspires to create 100 new job opportunities in Montréal and Toronto in 2021 because of the current expansion. Additional recruitment drives will take place in the years to come – in Canada as well as in Syntronic’s other offices across the world. By positioning itself even stronger on the Canadian market, Syntronic also aspires to intensify its collaborations with business partners in the US.

In addition to establishing itself in two new regions in Canada, Syntronic will continue to grow and expand in Ottawa. Currently, the team in Ottawa consists of 300 professionals who specialise in product development for market areas such as Wireless Radio, Datacenter, Automotive, Industrial, Defense, and Connected Devices. The team’s areas of expertise include RF, Digital, Embedded SW, AI, machine learning, big data analytics, UX, mobile and full-stack design.

Syntronic Research and Development Canada is renowned for its excellent working environment. The Ottawa office has twice been voted one of the top 10 Best Places to Work in the capital region (Employees’ Choice Awards, ECA).  “Our Swedish values and way of working with a focus on employee welfare and teamwork has led to success in Ottawa that we want to extend to our new offices as well,” Hans Molin concludes.

Syntronic invests in high-quality manufacturing in Sweden

Syntronic is expanding the manufacturing site in Kumla. The strategic expansion enables Syntronic to intensify the circuit board manufacturing and simultaneously engage in high-quality series production. New job opportunities, both in Kumla and at the Syntronic’s already established production site in Sandviken, will be offered in the context of the large-scale investment.

− “It feels fantastic to take the next big step in the story of Syntronic’s manufacturing operations”, says Roger Lindholm, CEO of Syntronic Production Services.

In Kumla, Syntronic has chosen large-scale premises with excellent growth potential, as a strategy for further development. The new premises in Kumla are equipped with advanced technology designed to handle tomorrow’s technology efficiently.

Syntronic has many years of expertise in circuit board manufacturing and technologies. The investment in Kumla widens the company’s reach, allowing its teams to apply their knowledge to larger projects. The overall aim is to continue to offer the market’s most efficient solutions related to circuit board production and other advanced manufacturing in areas such as telecom, medtech, defence, automotive and industrial sector.

− “We are ready to compete with manufacturers outside of Sweden. Syntronic invests in skills-optimized, quality-driven, and ethical production in Sweden, where we have a good and safe working environment and are able to offer our customers reasonable prices”, says Roger Lindholm.

The investment has already borne fruit in the form of new contracts with market-leading companies such as Saab in Karlskoga. Collaborations with other large-scale companies that see the intersectional benefits of quality-optimized manufacturing in Sweden from a market, cost and work environment perspective are at the negotiation table. An additional advantage of the new Kumla site is that it will be possible to work on common areas with customers, which paves the way for positive and far-reaching collaborations.

The company’s expansion also enables a diversification in the manufacturing segment, which means that more jobs will be created in both Kumla and Sandviken. In Kumla, Syntronic will work with large volumes with a special focus on circuit board manufacturing, series production and end-assembly.  Simultaneously, the manufacturing site in Sandviken will focus on advanced mechanics and other specific areas of expertise. Syntronic’s teams in Sandviken will work with mixed volumes and offer high-level expertise in mechanical design, test product manufacturing, RF boxes, mechanical tool solutions and other areas.

− “It feels amazing that Syntronic can invest and create job opportunities in a time that is financially challenging for a large number of people. We have the courage to invest in Swedish manufacturing based on deep and broad expertise locally and globally, excellent machines, and great working conditions”, says Roger Lindholm.

Operations in Kumla have already begun in the form of machine installations. The manufacturing will gradually increase in intensity in the near future.

Our greatest assets are our people, when the right people enjoy working with other like-minded team members it attracts more of the right talent. Exceptional employees coupled with variety and technical challenge has created a winning combination in our company culture and has created the snowball effect of our growth story,” Hans Molin explains.

The team in Canada has been voted the Best Place to Work in the capital region twice (Employees’ Choice Awards, ECA). It is recognised as one of the top ten organizations in the capital area. Syntronic brings subject matter experts in RF, Digital, Embedded SW, AI, machine learning, big data analytics, UX, mobile and full-stack design together to develop complex, cutting edge solutions for customers.

Darrell Wellington, vice president of Syntronic Canada, believes that the secret behind the company’s exceptionally high employee satisfaction rate is its position at the forefront of technological innovation, generous benefits, and the great work environment. “We have an amazing company culture with outstanding people and a flexible work environment. My colleagues often say that Syntronic is the perfect place if you want to develop professionally and enjoy a great work-life harmony at the same time,” Darrell Wellington comments.

Syntronic wants to attract professionals with a genuine passion for its key competence area, ICT. Currently, we are particularly interested in embedded software developers, radio hardware designers, cavity filter designers, cloud engineers, digital hardware designers and power designers.

Current assignments include R&D projects with global leaders in telecommunication equipment, computer development, multi-cloud, AI, and machine learning.

Although it is a challenge to expand in the midst of a global pandemic, Syntronic is taking precautions to ensure that the expansion is conducted safely. “We leverage tools at our disposal to recruit safely, such as digital interviews and virtual job fairs,” Darrell Wellington comments.

High participation in the Syntronic China Innovation Competition

The first edition of the Syntronic China Innovation Competition attracted ample attention and a very high participation. The competition was successfully concluded in Beijing this fall.

The talented winners were Li Yi and Wang Min, with a project named Onboard Life Detection. The innovative solution makes it possible to detect life signs in a vehicle when it is parked and send a warning to the owner’s mobile device, who is then able to react in time.

It was the first time that Syntronic China organized a creative in-house competition of this calibre. The aim was to provide our China-based team members with a forum for generating new ideas, to promote creative thinking, and to strengthen the bonds between colleagues.

From summer to autumn, from the north to the south, Syntronic China’s new competition was welcomed with excitement on all our sites in the country. The participating teams had different strengths and areas of expertise such as, for instance, telecom, industrial, automotive, smartphone technology, IoT and semiconductor technology. In the context of the competition, the teams came forward with innovative ideas for how to improve tools, software, product models, systems, and solutions. The ideas demonstrated how deep and extensive Syntronic’s technical strength is.

After two months of intense competition, five teams successfully advanced to the finals. At the end of autumn, the finals were organized simultaneously in Syntronic Beijing, Tianjin, Chengdu, and Nanjing site at an online forum. Subsequently, an award ceremony was held in Beijing. “I hope that more employees can participate in the competition in the future. Take your innovative dreams and ideas, put them forward, and demonstrate how they will work, Zinser Zhao, General Manager of Syntronic Asia, said. “We hope that through the innovation competition and our newly established innovation laboratory, we can put ourselves on an even more active position on the market.” he concluded.

Syntronic milestone: 15 years in China

Bigger, better, and stronger were the keywords when we celebrated one of our most important achievements as a global company: the 15th anniversary of our presence in dynamic China. “I am very proud of what we have done in China. One of the key factors of our success is that we work as one Syntronic globally,” said Björn Jansson, Group CEO.

The first chapter of our story in China was written in 2005, when the Beijing office saw the light of day. Approximately thirty talented co-workers joined our team in the early days. As one of the first completely foreign-owned R&D company to start business activities in China, Syntronic was a pioneer.

Since then, our presence in China has undergone a successful, extensive, and transformative expansion. Syntronic is particularly proud of the rapid pace of our recent developments. “In the last five years, the company has developed very fast in China: the number of employees has increased five times, and we have expanded from being present in one city to four,” said Zinser Zhao, General Manager of Syntronic Asia.

Today, Syntronic is present in Beijing, Chengdu, Tianjin, Nanjing, and Hong Kong. Our China-based teams consists of more than 600 coworkers. Moreover, Syntronic China is recognized as one of the leaders in the field of R&D services. Customers on the Asian market consider Syntronic a reliable, progressive, and knowledgeable business partner.

Zinser Zhao is proud of our achievements and enthusiastic about the future. “We have a very grand dream. With our team, we can make Syntronic China better, bigger, and stronger!” he said. The company has big plans for our future in China. “We can develop business activities in different cities and help each office grow locally with the ability of One Syntronic,” Zinser Zhao added.

Group CEO Björn Jansson describes Syntronic China as an essential part of Syntronic’s success story. “I am very honored to be able to participate in the 15th anniversary celebration of Syntronic China,” he said. “When we first started operating in China 15 years ago, we were completely unknown in Beijing and the rest of the country. Over the years, we have built a strong brand. Today, our brand is associated with high quality and long-term relationships with customers and team members. We have successfully reached the stage of our journey where we are a well-known organization among new customers and job seekers,” he concluded.

A warm ”xièxiè” (”thank you”) to our talented teams in China!
