Syntronic’s rapid international expansion continues, with a new aftermarket center in Dubai. “The demand for our services is required in Dubai. By being closer to our customers in this region, we can operate sustainably and ensure fast turnaround times,” says Stefan Sundin, Managing Director of Syntronic Aftermarket Services.

The new center in Dubai forms part of Syntronic’s sustainable “Global Solutions – Local Presence” model. The model is an environment-friendly and cost-efficient approach that aims at reducing the need for transportations over large distances. Syntronic’s capacity to establish a local presence when and where its customers need assistance is an essential quality assurance measure.

Multi-purpose responsibility

The comprehensive agreement signed in December is regarded as a mutually beneficial commitment by both partners. In the initial stage of the collaboration, Syntronic will provide services related to an advanced broadband terminal developed by Ovzon. Ovzon’s industry leading broadband terminal makes it possible to transmit and receive high volumes of data in remote places and challenging conditions – all in a reliable, resilient, and fast manner.

Syntronic will strengthen Ovzon’s offer by assuming the responsibility for procuring key components that are integrated into the satellite terminal.

Syntronic will also take charge of the end assembly stage and ensure quality assurance by conducting advanced production tests. The final product will be delivered to Ovzon’s customers directly by Syntronic.

Syntronic selected for sustainable partnerships panel in Indonesia

How do we create smart jobs, promote sustainability, and implement the fourth industrial revolution, Industry 4.0? All of this and more was debated when ambassadors, ministers, and world-leading industry representatives gathered for the digital Sweden-Indonesia Sustainability Partnership (SISP) week.

Sweden’s Minister for Foreign Trade and Nordic Affairs, Anna Hallberg, Sweden’s Ambassador, Marina Berg, Indonesia’s Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, and Indonesia’s Ambassador, Kamapradipta Isnomos, were among the keynote speakers. Syntronic was represented by Stefan Sundin, President Director of PT Syntronic Indonesia, who attended the forum as a panellist.

“This forum was an opportunity for us to share our visions and engage in conversations with stakeholders who share our values on sustainability, smart solutions, and the transformative power of innovation,” Stefan Sundin comments. “It is important for us to actively promote sustainability, job creation, and smart development strategies,” he adds.

Sustainability and productivity goals

The Embassy of Sweden and Business Sweden organizes SISP annually to strengthen sustainable partnerships, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. This year, the focus was on how digital solutions can be deployed to support both sustainability and productivity goals, as well as on Industry 4. 0 development.

Industry 4.0 refers to the implementation of advanced automation and data exchange trends, such as cyber-physical systems, the internet of things, and cloud computing. The SISP forum forms part of the ‘Making Indonesia 4.0’ initiative, aiming at promoting the country’s journey towards Industry 4.0 solutions. For the roadmap to bear fruit, the support of technologically intense companies like Syntronic is considered vital.

Industry 4.0 success factors

The President Director of PT Syntronic Indonesia, Stefan Sundin, was a selected for a panellist position at a SIPS seminar dedicated to Industry 4.0. At the seminar, Indonesia’s Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, outlined key technologies that have been identified as Industry 4.0 success factors. The minister spoke about the potential of the internet of things, artificial intelligence, human-machine interfaces, robotics & sensory technology, and 3D printing. “Since these are technologies that Syntronic has expertise in, we look forward to supporting the development towards Industry 4.0,” Stefan Sundin comments.

This year’s SISP event will be followed up by a high-level manufacturing exhibition that will take place in Indonesia within short.

Innovation Competition 2021: Here are our finalists

The 2021 edition of Syntronic China’s Innovation Competition is now entering its final round. After careful deliberation, the jury has selected five projects that will be competing for the winning title in the up-coming finals.

Syntronic China’s Innovation Competition is an in-house forum aiming to generating new ideas, promote creative thinking and strengthen the bonds between colleagues. The first edition of the competition was held last year. Since it was a sound success, a second edition was launched in June 2021 on the theme “Exploring New Opportunities in the New Era”.

The interest in this year’s competition was high, with contributions being sent in from our offices in Beijing, Chengdu, Tianjin, Nanjing, and Shanghai. The projects were related to a myriad of progressive fields, such as artificial intelligence, automotive electronics, medical equipment, and system testing.

Since the quality of the contributions were high, it was a challenge for the jury to shortlist 20 projects in the competition’s first round. After a second screening, the jury decided that the following five projects will be competing in the finals:

 

Finalist no. 1: Stream Analyzer Mini

The first project to make it to the finals is an advanced portable stream analyser based on field-programmable gate array (FPGA) technology. It has the capacity to analyse the basic structure of stream characteristics and provide essential data.

 

Finalist no. 2: GEMINI DOHERTY PA

The RF engineers involved in this project developed a novel multi-band radio frequency topology circuit, which can maximize the working efficiency of the radio frequency power amplifier.

 

Finalist no. 3: Hybrid Tire Pressure Monitoring System

 The project consists of a hybrid tire pressure monitoring system. The system makes it possible to calculate the tire pressure and send detailed status reports to the driver.

 

Finalist no. 4: Syntronic Log Analyze Tool

The engineers active in this project used artificial intelligence technology to develop a tool aimed at improving the overall design quality and assist designers in their in-depth product research.

 

Finalist no. 5: Smart Counter for Asthma Inhaler

 Syntronic’s R&D engineers designed a smart counter for asthma inhalers. The smart counter can record and store usage data through a single-chip microcomputer and sensors, send reminders to the user and send treatment data to the nursing staff and the attending doctor via Bluetooth.

 

Regardless of which project that eventually brings home the winning title, all five projects serve as examples of our teams’ ability to innovate and of our joint capability to create tomorrow’s technology together.

A visit from the future: Technical College

The future of innovation knocked on Syntronic’s door this month. To get an insight into what a career at the forefront of new technology can entail, four 8th grade students from Stora Sätraskolan attended an inspirational engineering workshop at our headquarters in Gävle.

“I’m thinking about becoming an engineer one day, so it was fun to see what it could be like,” says Tilde Övermalm, who participated in Syntronic’s workshop together with her classmates, Siriwiriya Sonsara, Melissa Kapsjö, and Elvira Övermalm.

The initiative was coordinated by Technical College, a collaboration between educational establishments and the world of work. Similar workshops were held at a handful of other workplaces in Gävle, as an initiative to make careers in technology more visible to girls and young women.

Syntronic’s consultants Håkan Sjörling and Roger Lindholm, CEO of Syntronic Production Services, are the main coordinators of the Technical College branches in Gävle and Sandviken. “It is important for us to give young people opportunities to develop a passion for technology,” Håkan Sjörling comments. “We believe that diversity is a strength and want to make sure that young women develop an awareness about opportunities in the technology sector from an early age.”

Robots and inspiration

The enthusiastic students got a tour of the facilities by Håkan Sjörling. They also got the opportunity to build and program their own robots, guided by our engineers, Angelica Davidsson and Theresa Leistner. “It was amazing to spend time with bright young people and, hopefully, inspire them to consider a career in technology,” Angelica Davidsson comments.

Our recruiter Josefine Bergqvist led a conversation about possible career paths and the future of technology. “We believe in gender-balanced workplaces where both women and men feel welcome and have opportunities to grow, so it is important for us to give young people information about career paths in our sector,” she says.

 The students describe Syntronic’s engineering workshop as an exciting, fun, and eye-opening experience. “I actually didn’t know that are so many different jobs to choose for people who have studied technology-related topics, so it was great to discover that,” says Melissa Kapsjö.

For Syntronic, last week’s workshop form part of a larger strategy aimed at promoting equality, diversity, and inclusiveness. Syntronic will continue to mentor, empower, and create opportunities for students through our continuous collaborations with schools and academic institutions.

Ardesco is an advanced Internet of Things (IoT) platform designed to simplify and speed up the process of building IoT devices. As Ericsson is in the process of promoting the Ardesco platform in the Asian market, the world-leading telecommunications firm selected Syntronic as its main partner.

Syntronic expands repair services internationally

Syntronic has reached a significant milestone in the aftermarket segment. The company’s repair center in Jakarta, Indonesia, is now processing its first overseas volume.

“This is an exciting time for us,” says Stefan Sundin, President Director of PT Syntronic Indonesia. “We already had the capacity and competence to handle large global repair volumes. When our request for a bonded zone license was granted by the authorities recently, it became administratively and logistically possible for us to go global. Now, that possibility has become our reality,” he adds.

Large-scale order

The first global repair volume entrusted to Syntronic comes from a world-leading telecommunications firm with offices in multiple locations. Syntronic’s team in Jakarta has already begun the repair process.

“Our team is certified and has the high-level repair expertise that is required for this type of advanced telecommunications products. We also possess the state-of-the-art equipment that the products require. Combined, those two factors enable us to meet our partners’ needs and request,” says Stefan Sundin.

Greater convenience

Earlier this year, Syntronic announced that its bonded zone license associated with more favourable trade arrangements had been approved by the Indonesian authorities. Syntronic applied for the license since the company had noted a high demand for its high-level repair services from customers on the international scene.

With the new procedures in place, Syntronic’s partners can benefit from faster and more convenient service. The bonded zone license has increased the speed and efficiency of the customs procedures significantly. In practice, that means that Syntronic can ensure short delivery times, in combination with low costs and high quality, to aftermarket partners regardless of where in the world they are located.

Syntronic expands in Chengdu

Due to strong growth and high customer demand in Southwestern China, Syntronic has expanded its lab, acquired additional state-of-the-art lab equipment, and doubled its office premises in Chengdu.

“This represents a new chapter of our development here,” Steven Man General Manager at Syntronic’s Chengdu branch, commented at the official inauguration ceremony on Friday. The event was held in the presence of an important strategic partner.

Advanced testing equipment

As a part of the substantial upgrade in Chengdu, Syntronic enforced its lab with additional testing equipment. The advanced new equipment will be used for high-speed digital board testing, automated testing, RF testing, cabinets, and customized test solutions, such as power supply test.

The expanded lab and larger office space will allow Syntronic to continue its rapid growth in Southwestern China, both in terms of workforce and assignments from partners. Since Syntronic first set up shop in Chengdu – which is renowned as the ICT capital of Western China – in 2016, the growth has been constant.

“We are now active in many different sectors, including telecom, automotive and the industrial sector. The number of employees has grown rapidly and now exceeds two hundred,” Steven Man commented. “In just five years, Syntronic’s Chengdu branch has grown tremendously,” he concluded.

Syntronic contributes to better radiotherapy equipment, with new motion control solution

A world-leading medtech firm selected Syntronic as their partner for a project that in the long-run will enable doctors to cure cancer tumors more efficiently, through new radiotherapy equipment with greater precision. The medtech firm is releasing an Electronic Portal Imaging Device (EPID) designed for improved radiotherapy treatment. Syntronic contributed to the project’s success by developing a flexible, precise, and technically advanced motion control system solution. In the field of radiotherapy, precision is a matter of crucial importance. Medtech equipment that results in greater precision, such as the EPID developed by Syntronic’s partner, facilitates the process of assessing and treating tumors. By providing medical professionals with more precise information, innovative medtech equipment also make it easier to determine the most efficient radiation dose in each case.

Improved accuracy and quality

The EPID that Syntronic’s partner has developed uses a detector matrix to acquire images in the beam direction of the field. The device instantly displays two-dimensional images in high resolution. It is designed to collect data quickly and has a strong radiation resistance. The overall aim is to provide medical professionals with improved positioning accuracy and better radiotherapy quality.

The motion control board developed and designed by Syntronic is based on field-programmable gate array (FPGA) technology. The board controls all motion systems on the electronic imaging device, including joint motion. The movement of each part has corresponding position detection and real-time communication with the main control board.

Quick and reliable

A major advantage with Syntronic’s solution is that once an abnormal state is detected, the main control board will issue a warning. At the same time, the main control board is equipped with status indicators. The solutions make it possible to quickly detect and identify any issues that may occur, by observing the status of the indicator light.
