Syntronic milestone: 15 years in China

Bigger, better, and stronger were the keywords when we celebrated one of our most important achievements as a global company: the 15th anniversary of our presence in dynamic China. “I am very proud of what we have done in China. One of the key factors of our success is that we work as one Syntronic globally,” said Björn Jansson, Group CEO.

The first chapter of our story in China was written in 2005, when the Beijing office saw the light of day. Approximately thirty talented co-workers joined our team in the early days. As one of the first completely foreign-owned R&D company to start business activities in China, Syntronic was a pioneer.

Since then, our presence in China has undergone a successful, extensive, and transformative expansion. Syntronic is particularly proud of the rapid pace of our recent developments. “In the last five years, the company has developed very fast in China: the number of employees has increased five times, and we have expanded from being present in one city to four,” said Zinser Zhao, General Manager of Syntronic Asia.

Today, Syntronic is present in Beijing, Chengdu, Tianjin, Nanjing, and Hong Kong. Our China-based teams consists of more than 600 coworkers. Moreover, Syntronic China is recognized as one of the leaders in the field of R&D services. Customers on the Asian market consider Syntronic a reliable, progressive, and knowledgeable business partner.

Zinser Zhao is proud of our achievements and enthusiastic about the future. “We have a very grand dream. With our team, we can make Syntronic China better, bigger, and stronger!” he said. The company has big plans for our future in China. “We can develop business activities in different cities and help each office grow locally with the ability of One Syntronic,” Zinser Zhao added.

Group CEO Björn Jansson describes Syntronic China as an essential part of Syntronic’s success story. “I am very honored to be able to participate in the 15th anniversary celebration of Syntronic China,” he said. “When we first started operating in China 15 years ago, we were completely unknown in Beijing and the rest of the country. Over the years, we have built a strong brand. Today, our brand is associated with high quality and long-term relationships with customers and team members. We have successfully reached the stage of our journey where we are a well-known organization among new customers and job seekers,” he concluded.

A warm ”xièxiè” (”thank you”) to our talented teams in China!

Higher hopes for Alzheimer’s treatment thanks to Syntronic software

The likelihood of finding a cure for the chronic neurodegenerative disease known as Alzheimer’s is increasing, thanks to a joint research project by Syntronic Gothenburg, the University of Gothenburg (GU), and the Karolinska Institute (KI). The team is about to release a brain network analysis software that will be used by medical professionals all over the world – and bring hope to the 35 million Alzheimer’s patients.

Today, over 50 million people suffer from severe memory loss that at best erases the image of what they did five minutes ago – and at worst makes their own children look like strangers. Roughly 70 % of them are diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Every year, an additional ten million families receive the news that a parent or spouse is affected.

Mercifully, scientists are on the verge of alleviating the suffering. At the forefront of the battle, Syntronic, KI and GU push the frontiers forward through enabling new ways of gathering information about the workings of the human brain.

Scientific progress

Syntronic’s team consists of highly skilled researchers and engineers with extensive expertise within various focus areas. Their current mission, in partnership with the University of Gothenburg and Karolinska Institute, is to perfectionate a software that will make it possible to analyse the human brain network in greater detail. A crucial goal when it comes to Alzheimer’s and other neurological disease is to comprehend how they emerge and progress in the brain. That knowledge will hopefully enable the development of treatments and a cure.

Today, scientists have no answers to why Alzheimer’s and other neurodegenerative diseases develop and cannot be eradicated. What they do know is that the human brain is structured as a complex network with various regions that interact with each other. That interaction can now be studied, courtesy of the software Syntronic, GU, and KI are developing, known as brain analysis using graph theory (BRAPH). According to the researchers responsible for the project, it will unveil new information about the brain’s structure, how brain signals evolve and how pathological molecules disperse throughout the brain way.

Essential knowledge on the brain’s organisation and structure will be derived by the software, from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), functional MRI (fMRI), positron emission tomography (PET) and electroencephalogram (EEG) data. Once that information is acquired, scientists can analyse how the brain networks of patients with neurological conditions differ from those of healthy individuals.

In addition, the software will enable comparisons of the same patient’s brain at different points in time. Combined, the new information that medical professionals will access courtesy of the software will increase the likelihood that a cure will see the light of day significantly.

Syntronic China expands business in the semiconductor field

Syntronic has signed a cooperation agreement with a well-known semiconductor enterprise in China. The aim is to provide customized UV spectrophotometer development services, which will help customers measure and control the ozone concentration in silicon wafer production accurately.

The UV spectrophotometer designed by Syntronic uses ultraviolet light of a specific wavelength for detection, which enables it to calculate the ozone concentration value. It can display and output the concentration signal to the specified terminal directly. Its built-in control system enables remote operations and instrument parameter modifications.

The project is led by a team from Syntronic Tianjin Office, composed of senior technical experts including digital, analog, software, and mechanical engineers as well as project managers. It combines optics, chemistry, mechanics, digital control, communication, and embedded programming. As a result, it is possible to provide hardware and software development services, such as flow control, temperature compensation, photometric compensation, optical sampling detection, signal processing, analog and digital output, and remote communication. The product supports the simultaneous detection of gas-phase and liquid-phase samples, which results in industry-leading accuracy.

This is a new breakthrough and practice for Syntronic in the semiconductor field and it will enable improved key equipment localization and intelligent manufacturing in the industry. Indonesia is taking big steps to move their capital, Jakarta, and turn it into a sustainable and smart city. The Indonesian government have invested USD 40 billion to modernize Jakarta. The heavy focus on the ICT and digitalization has made Indonesia a good alternative for Swedish companies that want to grow on the Asian market.

Business Sweden, an organization that help Swedish companies to grow their global sales and help international companies to invest and expand in Sweden, invited Syntronic to be a partner in their latest initiative: Make way for Indonesia.

Make way for Indonesia is a concept where Business Sweden together with already established Swedish companies in Indonesia are sharing their experience and stories of establishing in Indonesia.

It’s been two years since Syntronic opened the doors to the new aftermarket facility in Jakarta, Indonesia. The site started off with ten employees and has today grown into a team of 100 employees that supports customers with aftermarket services such as repair and upgrades.

– Indonesia’s rapid growth in ICT and digitalization has fueled market demand for our telecom services. Business has surpassed our expectations and we have invested in a high-tech facility in West Java to support our expansion plans, says Stefan Sundin, Managing Director, PT. Syntronic Indonesia.
